Data security and privacy are top priorities at SHEIN. Our U.S.- based Privacy Office works to protect the personal data of our customers and employees in accordance with leading industry practices and applicable regulations.

We do not sell or share customer data with anyone. We are committed to collecting and using only the minimum amount of data necessary to provide our services. We use aggregated data from first-party interactions with our mobile app and website. This data informs our designs, a key step in our unique on-demand business model.

When information is collected from or about our customers, employees, and partners, we process, use, and store it in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Additionally, SHEIN’s Supplier Security Requirements were designed to ensure responsible, secure operations across our supply chain. It sets the standards for how suppliers must protect physical facilities, data, and systems, in alignment with industry best practices and our commitment to safety and integrity.

Cybersecurity is built into our business. Security is embedded in every step of the application development lifecycle and every layer of technology. Our U.S.-based Global Security and Risk Management Team is focused on building and running security capabilities to identify threats, mitigate risks, and ensure regulatory compliance. Our systems and controls align with standards set by the International Standards Organization (ISO), the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).

SHEIN’s global compliance teams monitor changes and developments in product safety laws and regulations, continually investing in and optimizing our compliance processes. Our agreements and policies with merchants mandate that all merchants comply with applicable product safety laws and regulations in the countries where their products are sold.

SHEIN has a due diligence process to assess any new product categories created by our business team. This ensures that we are fully aware of the relevant compliance requirements for each type of product and can establish appropriate guidelines for merchants. For a wide range of categories, SHEIN configures product rules in its system covering standards for testing, registration, certification, labeling, and more. Merchants must provide compliance documentation, such as certificates and test reports, before listing these products.

SHEIN conducts ongoing monitoring and random checks on products. Prohibited products are continuously flagged through automated system tools (e.g., image recognition) and manual inspections. Testing is carried out by leading third-party laboratories, including Bureau Veritas, Intertek, SGS, and TUV-SUD. If a product is found non-compliant, it is removed from sale immediately. This includes monitoring CPSC and other regulators’ recall notices, removing identical products from SHEIN sites promptly, and conducting internal self-inspections based on media reports and regulators’ safety alerts.

SHEIN is committed to maintaining a network of high-quality sellers, holding all sellers to rigorous standards and eliminating non-compliant merchants. SHEIN will take action against merchants who sell non-compliant products or contravene agreements and policies, whether identified by a regulator or through internal monitoring.

For SHEIN-branded apparel, we have implemented a multi-faceted product safety protocol to monitor and simulate compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This includes mandatory documentation, tracking, and chemical safety testing at the supplier level. All SHEIN suppliers are required to comply with these controls and standards.

SHEIN’s incident response protocol states that any product found non-compliant with safety requirements in any jurisdiction will be immediately delisted globally. This process is managed by a designated compliance team in the LCC. For each incident, we conduct a gap analysis and update control rules accordingly. The compliance team coordinates with stakeholders to manage recalls, including delisting the product, notifying impacted customers, recalling items, and issuing refunds when applicable.

SHEIN respects and protects intellectual property (IP) rights. Whether designs come from our in-house design team, our marketplace sellers, or our more than 5,300 independent SHEIN X designers, we strive to avoid infringement and take swift action if we find it. Designers and artists work hard to create their work, and we’ve set a high bar for protecting those efforts.

Our intellectual property compliance program is led by a U.S.- based team with strong industry experience. We are committed to setting a high bar in IP compliance efforts and benchmark ourselves against leading international standards. We continuously evaluate and improve our approach to mitigating IP infringement.

SHEIN educates designers, manufacturers, and third parties about intellectual property to ensure all parties are aware of our policy and the ramifications of infringement. They must adhere to our policy and certify that their products do not infringe on third-party intellectual property, and we require evidence of creation, ownership, or originality. Disciplinary action is taken against suppliers found to have provided problematic products, including financial penalties and termination.

We have implemented a number of controls and continue to invest in and improve our product review process. To detect IP infringement early on, a dedicated team utilizes image-recognition technology and manually scans all products before they are added to our website.

We also operate a dedicated IP Complaint Portal where rights holders can submit takedown notices for alleged infringement of trademark, copyright, patent, or design rights.

As a global company, we believe taxes must be paid where value is created, and we comply with the domestic tax laws of the countries in which we operate. We are subject to the same tax regulations as our industry peers. Our corporate tax policy is based on internationally agreed tax regimes, including transfer pricing rules and the upcoming global minimum tax.
